DK2 Features Beautiful Simplicity & Comfortable Riding Position
Watch Jared Madsen Explain his NEW DK2 MADSEN on this YouTube Playlist:
1- The front fork: The fork uses a beautiful OG flat top biplane crown brazed to high strength chromoly blades with thru-axle dropouts. This is one of our favorite features, it’s gorgeous!
2- Plush, comfortable XL tires: frame change that accommodates bigger tires but also maintains the reliable and stable feel of the MADSEN ride that everyone loves. These tires create a softer, even more comfortable ride - on and off road.
3- A long, beautiful stem: the extra long stem is characteristic of a Dutch Omafiets bicycle, which makes for an ultra comfortable upright riding position. “Omafiets” is Dutch for “grandma-bike” - and is known for being practical and comfortable for all riders. To us, the stem is the face of a bicycle and the MADSEN DK2 stem is beautiful.
4- Clean, sleek internal cable routing: A big part of the focus for DK2 is to keep it super clean. So many electric bikes are a jumble of cables, plugs and wires. Not only does the internal routing look aesthetically pleasing, but it also keeps those delicate e-bike wires protected.
5- Easy to ride: We wanted DK2 to keep the same riding characteristics that the MADSEN has become so well known for: being easy to ride and feeling like you’re just riding a regular upright bicycle. Like always, the handling and balance are dialed in and customers who are comfortable riding a regular bike find riding a MADSEN a simple transition. And as always, DK2 upholds the astounding 600 lb / 271 kg weight capacity of a MADSEN bucket bike.
6- Easy-to-maintain and super strong brakes: The braking system for DK2 uses Tektro Aries 1-piece CNC machined mechanical caliper, coupled with a Tektro 203mm front rotor and 180mm rear rotor. Jagwire hi-compression Kevlar-wrapped brake cable housing, coupled with Jagwire Pro Ultra Slick uncoated polished stainless steel cables, creates worry-free, serviceable, ready-to-go super braking power. Using this system aligns with MADSEN’s core value to build a bike that lasts generations.
7- Powerful electrical system: With the DK2, our goal remained the same as always: to build a high-quality bike that will last for generations. The concept of no “planned obsolescence” is key to our design. This is why, unlike most other mid-drive e-bike designs out there, we chose to use a traditional bottom bracket, just like the original MADSEN. The DK2 frame was purposefully designed to create a more integrated motor mount for the time-tested and powerful Bafang 750-watt motor with 120 Nm of torque. The DK2 also uses a more powerful 52V15ah battery.
